Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Wins Fighting Game of the Year
Nintendo’s fantastic fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has won the “Fighting Game of the Year” award at The Game Awards 2019 with Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser accepting the reward on behalf of Masahiro Sakurai. Fire Emblem: Three Houses won the “Best Strategy Game” and “Player’s Voice” awards. Luigi’s Mansion 3 won the “Best Family Game” award. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Wins Famitsu Game of the Year
Both Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (known as Dairantou Smash Bros. SPECIAL in Japan) and Monster Hunter: World have won the Game of the Year at Famitsu Award 2018. Last year saw both The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete win!
Excellence Award winners included OCTOPATH TRAVELER, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Dragon Quest Builders 2: Hakaishin Shidoo to Karappo no Shima, Fortnite, and Pokémon Let’s Go! Pikachu／Eevee.
OCTOPATH TRAVELER also won the Rookie Award and Best Game Music Award. Kirby won character of the year, Capcom won Best Game Maker, and Masahiro Sakurai won MVP. Video added below. Many thanks to Naruki.
Nintendo titles won two awards at the CEDEC 2018 event with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild winning the Excellence Award in the Engineering Division and Splatoon 2 winning the the Excellence Award in the Game Design Division.
