This week’s Japanese software charts sees Ghost of Tsushima sell more than Paper Mario: The Origami King in both game’s opening week.

Notes: Delayed numbers again due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Data thanks to Famitsu and is for the period July 13~July 19. Nintendo Switch hardware is at 113,197 units sold for the week (95,764 for the original model and 17,433 for the Nintendo Switch Lite) and Nintendo 3DS hardware is at 903 for the week (76 for the New 3DS LL and 827 for the New 2DS LL). New entries are bolded.

For reference: the most recent Paper Mario title before The Origami King, Paper Mario: Color Splash opened with just 28,436 units sold on Wii U in Japan in October 2016, while Paper Mario: Sticker Star (as “Paper Mario: Super Seal”) opened with a more impressive 130,009 units sold on Nintendo 3DS back in December 2012, in what was the series’ first entry on a portable console.
