Friday Update: Beast-type Heroes Arrive In Fire Emblem Heroes, Blue Toad Is Back, And More News!

● New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is now available worldwide for Nintendo Switch! The featured image is from the Beast-type Hero summoning event available today in Fire Emblem Heroes (see below) with a Grand Hero Battle scheduled for tomorrow.

● Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster will release for Nintendo Switch in Japan on 11 April (priced at ¥7,344 for physical or ¥6,566 for digital) and Final Fantasy XII THE ZODIAC AGE will release on 25 April (priced at ¥6,264 for either physical or digital versions). ● Nintendo have revealed that you can still play as Blue Toad in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. Just press ‘L’ on the character select screen when you’re on Yellow Toad and he’ll change to Blue!

● The Double XP and SP Event is now live in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and which sees Experience and Spirit Points received from Spirit Board battles doubled for the next 72 hours!

● Worker Bee announced they are localising the medieval city building simulation game Townsmen on the Japanese Switch eShop on 24 January with price TBD. Switch trailer posted here.

● BLADE ARCUS Rebellion from Shining will see a tournament at the Red Bull Gaming Sphere Tokyo on 16 March. Full details here.

● Square-Enix have updated Dragon Quest Builders 2: Hakaishin Shidoo to Karappo no Shima to Version 1.2.3 which features the issue from the most recent update where Hammerhoods spawned on the Empty Island.

● Regista have updated The Demon Crystal to Version 1.01 where you can now adjust the volume from the menu, plug bug fixes.

● The Kirby Twitter account celebrated the fifth anniversary of the release of Kirby Triple Deluxe with this special artwork.

● Next week (16 January) will see four new vocaloid themes on the Japanese 3DS Theme Shop including ones by Mitchie M and DECO*27 feat. Hatsune Miku!

● Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp saw Gyroidite Scavenger Hunt #7 begin with new Snow-Park Gyroidite and some rewards including two Nightlight Ice Rinks (one with leaf tickets and one without). See the full list of rewards at this post.

● Dragalia Lost will soon see Void Battles unlock after clearing Chapter 7 of the main story with the materials collected able to create new weapons. Players should soon be able to equip a second wyrmprint.

● Fire Emblem Heroes saw the New Heroes: Rulers of the Laguz summoning event featuring Beast-type Heroes Tibarn: Lord of the Air, Leanne: Forest’s Song, Reyson: White Prince and Nailah: Unflinching Eye, all from Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn. ● And Pokémon GO will see a three-hour Limited Research event next week (19-20 January – check your game for regional times!) featuring the Water-type Pokémon Feebas.

● Bandai Namco US announced a Dragon Ball Games Super Showcase Twitch livestream for 14 January from 16:00-17:00 PT and which promises “BIG reveals” and “BIG news”. Twitch link is https://www.twitch.tv/bandainamcous.

● Sega Games revealed that both SEGA AGES Gain Ground (already released in Japan) and SEGA AGES Puyo Puyo (unreleased in Japan) will be available next month.

● Digital leisure will be publishing Dragon’s Lair Trilogy on the Switch eShop next week (17 January) with the game including Dragon’s Lair, Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair II: Time Warp. Nintendo Switch trailer here.

● And the 22nd Annual DICE Awards sees Kirby Star Allies up for Family Game of the Year, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate up for Fighting Game of the Year, Mario Tennis Aces up for Sports Game of the Year and Dragalia Lost up for Portable Game of the Year .

● The best-selling software in Japan from 26 November – 30 December 2018 according to Famitsu data were Dairantou Smash Bros. SPECIAL with 2,360,655, Pocket Monsters: Let’s Go! Pikachu／Eevee with 431,785 and Super Mario Party with 417,255. The best-selling hardware was Nintendo Switch with 1,158,743 units sold.

● Dengeki TOP 50 Rankings for the final week of 2018 saw Shin Sangoku Musou７ with Moushouden DX (Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition) open with 3,107 units sold.

● Futari de！Nyanko Daisensou is still the best-selling game on the Nintendo eShop charts for Switch (Dragon Quest III is for 3DS). Check out the full top 10 at this post.
